The Food Research Center (FoRC) is a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC) created in July 2013 with support from The Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) for multidisciplinary research in Food and Nutrition. The goal of the FoRC is to address key global challenges and develop internationally-ranked fundamental, strategic and applied research, benefiting Brazilian agribusiness, consumers, policymakers and regulatory agencies, promoting socio-economic development in the country. The research strengths of FoRC are concentrated at three focal points: 1) Carbohydrates, food and health; 2) Brazilian food biodiversity, bioactive compounds and health; 3) Risks and benefits of microbes in foods.

The FoRC has a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Food Engineering (ZEA) of the School of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP) to develop the research plan “Encapsulation of non-polar bioactive agents in conventional emulsions, Pickering emulsions, or nanoemulsions: application in active films, and activity conservation and controlled release studies” in the second focal point (Brazilian food biodiversity, bioactive compounds and health), for the period August 2019 to July 2021, having the Prof. Paulo José do Amaral Sobral as Supervisor.

This opportunity is open to distinguished young researchers with a recent doctorate degree (no more than seven years prior to application) and a successful research track record and with outstanding performance in the areas of Food Engineering, Science or Technology, for the management and realization of research on the development and characterizations of biopolymers-based nanocomposites additivated with non-polar active principles incorporated into O/W emulsions.

Requirements: (a) PhD degree in Food Engineering or similar domains; (b) Significant scientific production in indexed journals, (c) Fluency in English, (d) Motivation and ability to teamwork.

Documentation for application: (a) Letter of introduction and motivation, (b) Curriculum Vitae (maximum of four pages) including academic background, a list with up to 10 most important and relevant publications, and the link to MyResearchID or ORCID, (c) Copy of PhD certificate, (d) two letters of recommendations.

Application and Deadline: Candidates should apply their documentation by email to pjsobral@usp.br with subject ‘FoRC PD Nanoemulsion’. Recommendation letters should be sent directly by the author topjsobral@usp.br. All documents should be submitted up to June 7th, 2019.

Result: The result of the selection process will be announced on June 14th, 2019, by electronic correspondence.
